For many people across the United States, a trip to the dentist–whether for cosmetic reasons or to deal with a toothache–can be a pretty stressful ordeal. In many instances, a fear of visiting the dentist stems from a bad experience somewhere along the line in the past. Whether that was because of a particularly intimidating dentist you visited as a child who only seemed to be out to cause you pain or it’s just because you don’t like the idea of having someone poking around in your mouth, that fear is totally understandable.

At Summit Family Dentistry, we totally get it. When it comes to the health of your teeth and gums, you shouldn’t have to worry about your next trip to the dentist’s office. Rather than feeling a sense of dread, we think that you should anticipate hearing about how you can take better care of yourself. Okay, maybe that is a bit of a stretch, but nonetheless, we definitely don’t want to be the cause of your fear!

Summit Family Dentistry to the Rescue!

Because we want you to feel comfortable when you’re in our clinic, we do our best to go above and beyond for each and every patient who steps through our doors. If you’re looking for a dentist, but you are concerned about what your trip to see us is going to look like, we’d like to ease your mind a little bit. Here are just a few of the things that set us apart from others:

Relax With Netflix

There’s just something comforting about watching episodes of a show you’ve seen a million times. You might put your favorite show on when you’re not feeling well or when you’ve had a bad day at work. We understand the power of the things we love to help transform our moods. That’s why we offer Netflix in every operatory, beamed to you on a television with a nice screen.

What that means for you is that if watching a few episodes of Friends will help you to relax, we’re all for it. If seeing Amy Poehler hilariously deal with the participants in a town hall meeting on Parks and Rec puts a smile on your face, that’s what will be on the screen. If you’re catching up on the previous season of Stranger Things before the new season starts at the end of the month, we’re right there with you!

Stay Warm With a Blanket

We also understand that sometimes dental clinics can be downright chilly. Whose idea is it to keep the thermostat at 60 degrees year round anyway? Using the same line of thinking as the one we mentioned above, we decided it would be a pretty good idea to start offering our patients a warm blanket while they’re here.

Rather than shivering on the chair while you’re here for your visit, you can instead wrap yourself up with a cozy blanket. There’s just something about being warm that is so relaxing. We can’t guarantee that it will perfectly recreate the feeling you get when you’re curled up on the couch, but our experience is that it helps quite a bit.

Enjoy a Dentist Who Gets It

Perhaps best of all is just knowing that you’ll be visiting a dentist who understands what you’re going through. It can often seem like dentists live in some weird fantasy world where they just think that people are immune to fear. Obviously that’s not the case and our team understands that very well. We understand that there are people out there who experience severe anxiety when they start approaching the date of their routine checkup.

Or even worse is when people don’t come in at all, living under the impression that if nothing hurts, nothing is wrong. The truth of the matter is that whatever your reason for not wanting to see a dentist–from fear of pain to anxiety over finding out something might be wrong–it’s still important to come in on a regular basis. At Summit Family Dentistry, we’ve built our team knowing that people want something different in a dentist and when you choose to work with us, that’s exactly what you will get.

Rather than simply seeing one patient after another, we take pride in the fact that we engage with the people who see us in order to get to know them a little bit and ensure that they feel comfortable while they are visiting.
