Sedation Dentistry
We offer advanced sedation dentistry for a wide range of in-house treatments to keep you calm, relaxed, and comfortable throughout your visit. Our team will discuss any fears or concerns you may have and help choose the sedation option that feels right for you.
What is sedation dentistry?
Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients feel calm, comfortable, and at ease during dental procedures. It can ease anxiety, reduce discomfort, and make treatment smoother for both you and your dental team. Sedation options range from mild relaxation to deeper calming effects, depending on your needs and the type of procedure.
Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, provides light sedation through a small mask and creates a relaxed, easy feeling. Oral sedation offers a stronger level of relaxation, taken as a pill about an hour before your appointment. It won’t put you to sleep, but it will make you feel deeply at ease throughout your visit.

What is laughing gas, and what does it do?
Laughing gas, or nitrous oxide, is a mild sedative breathed in through a small mask during your dental visit. It helps you feel relaxed, calm, and slightly light-headed while still remaining fully awake. The effects wear off quickly, so you can usually resume normal activities soon after your appointment.
-
Who is a good candidate for sedation dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is ideal for patients with dental anxiety, a strong gag reflex, difficulty sitting still, or those undergoing longer or more complex procedures. It can also benefit individuals with special needs or heightened sensitivity to dental treatment.

What should I expect with IV sedation?
With IV sedation, medication is administered through a small IV line to help you feel deeply relaxed during your procedure. You’ll remain conscious but may feel drowsy and remember little of the appointment. Your vital signs are closely monitored throughout, and you’ll need someone to drive you home afterward since the effects can last several hours.
